One day in the Port of Blanes and you leave with the licence
The Licencia de Navegación — the Spanish basic boating licence — takes six hours in a row: two of theory, which by law are taught in person, and four of practical on board a boat with a professional skipper. No exam: the school certifies the training and issues the licence when you finish.

The boat and the group
The practical hours are on the Trimarchi 57S, a boat 5.70 metres long: it sits inside the licence limit with 30 centimetres to spare, so you learn on the same kind of boat you will be skippering afterwards. Groups of six students at most, with a skipper holding a professional qualification (PPER), which is the one the rules require in order to teach.

What you need
18 years old
Or 16 and 17 with written consent from a parent or guardian.
Medical fitness check
At a driver medical centre, the same kind of place where you renew a driving licence. The student pays for it and it is valid for two years.
Valid DNI or NIE
That is what goes on the licence. Nothing else: no previous experience, no need to swim.
What it allows you to do
Skipper motor boats up to 6 metres in length, no more than 2 nautical miles from the coast and in daylight. It doesn't expire. Since 1 October 2026 it is also the minimum the law asks for to hire a motor boat, and it covers, for example, the three licence-class boats at Costa Brava Rent a Boat, which sail from the same port.
What we don't teach
Neither the PNB nor the PER. They are qualifications with an official government exam and they fall outside what this school does. If the length or the distance means you need one of them, we'll point you to where to prepare for it.

How long is the Licencia de Navegación course?
Six hours in a single day: two of theory, in person, and four of practical on board. You come in the morning and leave with the licence.
Can the theory be done online?
No. The Generalitat requires the two hours of theory for the licence to be taught in person, with no distance-learning alternative. They can be taught on board the training boat, which is how we do it here.
Which boat are the practical hours on?
On the Trimarchi 57S, a boat 5.70 metres long, in the Port of Blanes. Groups of six students at most, with a skipper holding a professional qualification (PPER), which is the one the rules require to teach the practical hours.
What do I need to bring?
A valid DNI or NIE and the medical fitness check, which is done at a driver medical centre and paid for by the student. You need no previous experience and you don't have to be able to swim to take the course.
Do you teach the PNB or the PER too?
No. This school only teaches the Licencia de Navegación. The PNB and the PER are qualifications with an official government exam, and if you need one of them we'll point you to where to prepare for it.
When does the first course start?
Opening is expected soon, once the school's authorisation is resolved. Until then there are no course dates, no places and no published price: the waiting list gets one email the day the first course has a date.
